SUNRISE PROGRAMS

We welcome and encourage parent involvement throughout the Sunrise Programs. Classrooms and playgrounds are always open for observation and participation. Feel free to join your child for lunch or story time. We also encourage you to help the teachers with special events, field trips, party days, etc. and share with the children any special interests or hobbies you have. We appreciate your participation and look to coordinate your child's efforts with his/her teacher. The opportunities for parent involvement are endless.

SUMMER DAY CAMP

Summer time day camp is fun-filled with experiences that include a program of planned weekly activities. These activities center around creative themes including various art mediums, music, water play, picnics, games, stories, swimming, and lots of movement and laughter.

We offer a variety of programs to fit the needs of our families. Programs include full and half day enrollment in our preschool programs, before and after school-age care with van transportation for K-6th grade children and special Summer Programs. Our preschool offers field trips, guest speakers, parent/teacher conferences, special holiday events and birthday celebrations. Optional programs that may be included in your child's preschool or school-age care program are: piano, computer, gymnastics, dance, swimming lessons and more. Childhood is fun! It is an important time for experimentation, exploration and discovery.

Conferences are scheduled yearly. They may be requested more often by either parent or teacher. We encourage close interaction between parents and teachers, and parents are always welcome in the classroom. If you every have any questions about your child's progress, feel free to talk with your child's teacher or the Sunrise School Director.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Developing natural imagination and curiosity for learning is reflected in our activities. Cooperative play and some sharing is encouraged as the learning centers focus on language games, storytelling, dramatic play, puppets, block building, music and movement, creative arts, science and discovery. Gross motor and fine motor skills are practiced with games, woodworking, movement games, sand and water play and playground activities.

Another focus of this program for pre-kindergarten children is to prepare them for the Kindergarten year ahead by presenting activities that focus on letters, numbers, shapes, size and color recognitions.

The goal of your child's teacher is to guide each child to reach their full potential. Your child's beginning preschool experiences are an important investment. At Sunrise, we believe each child is very unique. Our staff receives ongoing training and guidance in early childhood development to keep them on the cutting edge of new educational ideas. Each day is filled with planned and spontaneous moments of learning as well as group fun time.

Sunrise Development Center knows your child is special and we appreciate how important they are to you. We want your child to receive the very best care and education possible.

Teachers write and carry out posted activity plans that include weekly themes and well-planned learning centers. Teachers plan activities that develop large and small muscles along with self-help skills to attain independence. We also do childcare and daycare. As a child development center, we also work with toddlers.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM

We recognize that your grade school- aged child has needs that are very different from preschoolers. Sunrise provides a different schedule with a special informal program including an opportunity to work on homework.

Individual and group time activities, recreation, relaxation, activities to develop leadership skills and assume responsibility, field trips, special projects, art and crafts, games and sports that meet their developmental needs and interests.

As with our other groups, we do not place unrealistic pressures on a school-age child who has spent an entire day at school. If necessary, we will do intervention. The curriculum is specifically designed for elementary school children.
